Brief: Collaborative brand identity project or York: City of Culture
Outcome: Working collaboratively was challenging but fun. Our identity was inspired by the traditional white rose of Yorkshire – we simplified the existing emblem and then layered a stylized flower petal motif on top. This new logo was then integrated into the city name and the petal pattern was continually applied throughout all of the marketing and promotional material to add decoration, whilst staying “on brand” and echoing York’s historic past. The color palette was also a key part of the branding and could be easily identified, as was the strong typographic choice.
